NEWS 2006 21.12.0006 From all of us to all of you...
* * *
A new hip result "Lulu" aka Dirlian Rhiannon Beauty (sire: FIN CH Twitters Blackberry dam: Dirlian Open Secret) has been x-rayed, and now the official result has arrived from the Finnish Kennel Club and it is B-B. So four out of the litter of eight R-puppies has been x-rayed now, and all of them with good result: D. Rhisiart Lion A-A, D. Rhodri Mawr B-A, D. Rhian of Wales B-B and. D. Rhiannon Beauty also B-B. I am very happy of these good hip results of this litter has got so far. The last shows of the year At this weekend held 2 winner shows were the last shows in this year for us. On Saturday in Helsinki Finnish Winner 2006 show was our little "Princess Tuuli" aka Dirlian True princess alone representing Kennel Dirlian, and she did it very well. This was the last time Tuuli entered to the puppy class (The time really flies...) and placed finally as BOS-puppy. Mrs Paula Heikkinen-Lehkonen did the breed in Helsinki. Meanwhile Tuuli was defending our colours in Finland, travelled I with "Mikki" aka FIN&EST CH Dirlian Quack Quack and "Riina" aka Dirlian Rhian Of Wales across to Sweden where we entered to Swedish Winner 2006 in Stockholm. Mr Frank Whyte as a judge and 55 WSS entered. The results wasn't so remarkable this time, Mikki placed third at open class, Riina got a second price at quality. After a weekend full of all kind of misfortune (beginning on Friday with wrong markings in Riina's pet passport ending (hopefully!) when returning Mikki home and then mysteriously keys left inside to the car still running and everything possible between those) it is time to thanks for the nice company to Jonna, Anne and Keijo and the home folks of Mikki and Riina for the pleasure to get them with me again. Next time we don't get Mr Murphy with us! Happy birthday It's time to party, two of Dirlian litters is celebrating their anniversairies in this weekend. On Saturday celebrated our "R's" their 2nd anniversary, birthday greetings to Rhodri, Riina, Pate, Riku, Emmi, Inkku, Rhett and Lulu! Today was time to our "S's" celebrate their very first anniversary, happy birthday to Remu, Kamu, Lyyli, Senni, Rosa and Viivi!
Shows of the weekend 3 of the Dirlians were shown during this weekend. "Riina" aka Dirlian Rhian Of Wales and me travelled to Estonia, and entered to Tartu Int Ch Show on Saturday. Mrs Annukka Palomeimo were judging, 6 WSS entered. This time Riina got placement 2nd in best bitch competition and won res-cacib as a souvenir. We had once again a hysterically fun, thanks for a good company for Minni and Taimi (Tirhan Fleur) & Marita and Lore (Aqua-Stone's Lord Of The Dance). On Saturday was also a puppy Show at Espoo. Mrs Hannele Jokilta as a judge, 9 WSS puppies entered. One of them was our little Miss Whirlwind "Tuuli" aka Dirlian True Princess who placed 3rd at baby puppy class and got hp. On Sunday at Seinäjoki Int Ch Show made "Lyyli" aka Dirlian September Spell her debut to showrings. 15 WSS entered, Mr Stefan Sinko from Slovenia were judging. Not bad at all for first timers, Lyyli got excellent and placed finally 4th at best bitch competition. Well done, Lyyli and Anu! Finally, as a sugar on the bottom, Helsinki puppy show today. 7 WSS puppies entered, judge Mrs Paula Rekiranta. Our little princess Tuuli (D. True Princess) entered and won it all, placement BOB-puppy today. Tuuli didn't enter to group finals, it was too long wait for her. Congrats to Tuuli and family for a nice weekend.
Lahti Puppy Show What a nice day we had today at Lahti Puppy Show! All puppies out of our very large T-litter entered to the Show. Mrs Reija Leikola-Walden did the judging. "Taku" aka Dirlian Tailwind Sail placed 2nd and his brother "Tiku" aka Dirlian Team Spirit placed 3rd. This was the first show for our Chip and Dale (Tiku and Taku in finnish). This time their sister Tuuli aka Dirlian True Princess cleared the table, and won BOB puppy competition. Thanks again to all concerned!
Above: Tuuli at Lahti Spaniel Club Specialty Once gain a nice, hobby filled day behind, day of the annual Spaniel Club Specialty in Hyvinkää. The one of the events you can't stay away. This time only 3 Dirlians were entering to the show, depending the breeder being busy (and a little bit lazy too). But still the results aren't so bad: Our little "Tuuli" (D. True Princess) entered to "baby puppy class" (for 5-7 mo), placement 2nd and hp. "Riku" (D. Rhisiart Lion) entered to intermediate class, with result excellent and 3rd in class. "Mikki" (D. Fin&Est Ch Dirlian Quack Quack) entered to champion class and placed 2nd. Judge ot the day were Mrs Joy Hartley (Kennel weslave), 66 WSS were entering today. Thanks about a nice day to all concerned!
Mikki's critique: Tuuli's first show Tuuli aka Dirlian True Princess, aged just hardly 5 months, entered to her first show today, a puppy show at Hyvinkää. 5 wss puppies entered, all of them were bitches. Tuuli was alone entering to "baby puppy class" for puppies aged 5-7 months, winning hp and placed finally 2nd at best bitchpuppy class. As the judge Mr Jari Partanen said in his critique, Tuuli is right now in a funny stage of development :). The rest of the critique was very positive. I just updated new pictures of Tuuli to her own page. Sad news Yesterday was a very sad day, it was time to say goodbye to our beloved Veera. The cancer we had hoped to be won 3 years ago activated again and spread enourmously fast so there wasn't much to be done and it was time to let the dear friend to go.
Hyvinkää group show Today we, me and Riina aka Dirlian Rhian Of Wales spent a lovely and sunny autumn day at Hyvinkää group show. Ms Marjo Jaakkola (Kennel Benton) were judging the breed. It was well done for Riina, her result today best bitch, CC and BOB. We also entered to a big merged group 7/8 final, althought judge Mr Rui Oliveira picked Riina among the 7 best of the group, but we didn't get any more placements. Helsinki all breeds show Three of the Dirlian dogs entered to Helsinki all breeds show today. Mrs Valerie Foss from UK were invited to judge the breed, 18 WSS entered to the ring. "Rhodri" aka Dirlian Rhodri Mawr entered to his very first show with a nice result: A little bit more ring experience for Rhodri would maybe help getting even more better results, but grade excellent with res-CC isn't bad for a lively and anxious first timer! Also our little "Senni" aka Dirlian Sevent Heaven entered first time to junior class, among 4 junior bitches she placed nicely 2nd with excellent. We had one more "first timer" more, "Nanouh" aka Fin Ch Dirlian Quite Nice entered first time to champion class, and placed finally as best bitch-2! We had a very nice day, even the rain stopped before the ring. Many thanks for the lovely day to all concerned. New examination results "Mikki" aka Fin Ch Dirlian Quack Quack got his hips x-rayed, his hip result is B-C. Also his eyes were checked at the same time, they are clear and fine. A new champion
Time flies I just discovered that 20 years ago from today, was born my first Welsh, Popa aka Fin Ch Rocbee Kernel Goldheart. So the time really flies, it feels that all that happened not so long time ago...
A field test for Sh Ch title Riina aka Dirlian Rhian Of Wales entered to field test (needed) for Sh Ch title at this weekend. At Saturday one part of the test, tracking, was a little bit too exciting for Riina at her very first time on track ever, so we did't passed the test, althought the all other parts of the test were approved. At the Saturday evening we did some tracking practise with the rabbit at our nearby forest and at Sunday morning we entered to the another test, at the same place. This time the tracking went much more better than on Saturday and this time Riina got all parts of the the the test approved. We didn't need feel cold at the forest, it was a very hot weekend. Kotka Ch Show Two Dirlians entered to Kotka Ch Show on Sunday. Mrs Maudie Burke from Ireland did the judging. "Viivi" aka Dirlian Sweet Surprise (sire: Int&Fin&S CH Standard-bearer Neptunus dam: Fin&Rus Ch Dirlian Nice Surprise), aged 7 month entered to her very first show ever, winning the best of breed puppy. "Nanouh" aka Dirlian Quite Nice (sire: Int&Fin&S&N&Ltu&Est Ch Hammalgården's Don't Forget Me dam: Fin&Rus Ch Dirlian Nice Surprise) entered to open class, winning the best bitch-class, taking CC and winning also the best of breed. So we maybe can say, that the judge liked Kirsti's daughters! Nanouh's critique:
Uffe at agility "Uffe" aka Fin Ch Dirlian Offspring is entering to the popular Agirotu agility event during this weekend in Janakkala. At the personal competitions today Uffe did a good course and placed 10th in his class so Uffe qualified to Finnish Open final. At the final Uffe placed 27th among 47 competitors. Well done, Uffe and Terhi! Tuuli Have a look what my email brought... This sweet little girl is "Tuuli" aka Dirlian True Princess, 10 weeks old now. Tuuli is co-owned by me and Suvi and Outi Lindholm.

At Friday morning we packed ourselves, me and my friend Minni, 2 Welsh Springers "Riina" Dirlian Rhian of Wales and "Mikki" FIN CH Dirlian Quack Quack and Minni's miniature spitz "Taimi" Tirhan Fleur to my Toyota and drove to the ferry at Helsinki harbour. The trip across the Finnish Gulf went nicely and after many curves we finally found our hotel in Tallinn. The rest of the day we spent shopping and touring in Tallinn, then early at Saturday morning we packed ourselves again to my car and drove to Pärnu Int Ch Show. This time we didn't got lost...Kind of a small miracle.
Next morning it was time to travel again, this time back to Finland and home. Of course also this time we made those obligatory extra curves with a U-turn at highway to St Petersburg and meeting kind estonian policemen (=breathalyse spot check) before we were at harbour of Tallinn.... Luckily we had woken up early and had enough time that we didn't missed the ferry!
Our daywalk at Pärnu beach

A new member to our team At the same time we got new member to our little team, cute little "Tuuli" aka Dirlian True Princess joined us. Tuuli lives in Kotka with her Auntie-Nasu (Dirlian Officially Olga) and she'll also spend lot of funny time playing together with Ocean-Pitfal's English Springers.
9.6.2006 Eye examination result Dirlian Rhodri Mawr aka Rhodri's eyes are checked, result clear. 30.5.2006 At Sunday it was the day of the annual Springer Spaniel Club Specialty Show in Karkku. 72 WSS (5p+34m+33b) were shown, Mr Graham Tain, breeding WSS with prefix Taimere was doing to breed at this time. Our Riina did well, she placed finally as best bitch-1, BOS and took her first CC.
T-puppies got names Our (tomorrow 2 weeks old) T-puppies has got their official names, they are: Dirlian Team Spirit A new hip result Dirlian Rhodri Mawr x-rayed in April, Rhodri's hipresult is B-A. I'm very happy about those good hip results our R-puppies x-rayed so far have got. Puppies! Maija's puppies are born, we got two males and a one female. All went very well, and Maija is taking care of her new puppies with great enthuasism. I'll try to get more photos taken soon.
Lappeenranta Int Ch Show "Mikki" aka FIN CH Dirlian Quack Quack entered today to Lappeenranta Int Ch Show with fine success. Among 23 WSS shown today were Mikki chosen as the Best of Breed, winning also his first CACIB. The judge for the breed was Mr Anatoli Zhuk from Belarus. At group 8 final Mikki was also chosen among the best 6 dogs, but finally he did not placed any more further. Very big congratulations to Mikki and his owner Hanna!
Our first show in 2006 Our show year finally started, I've been so busy that I have missed a couple of applications. But today "Riina" aka Dirlian Rhian Of Wales entered to Oitti National show. Mrs Raija Tammelin were judging the breed, 10 Welsh Springers entered, only two of them got excellent, another of them was Riina who placed second at Best bitch class and got res-CC.
A nice day We had a vey nice day at Nummela today, we went to meet "Kamu" (Dirlian Samwise Gamgee" and his family. With us we had also "Senni" (Dirlian Sevent Heaven), "Kirsti" (Dirlian Nice Surprise", "Teuvo" (Dirlian Mighty Man) and their folks. Those two juniors really had fun, 2 hours of runnig and playing until they were so exhausted and the sleep finally won.
We had ultrasound done yesterday, and Maija (Dirlian Open Secret) is really having puppies in the end of April. More about this litter you'll find from "puppies"-page. Kamu and Viivi My email brought greetings from our 3,5 mo. old S-puppies. That sweet snownose is "Kamu" aka Dirlian Samwise Gamgee, who lives in Nummela with family Eklund. Sister "Viivi", Dirlian Sweet Surprise shows that fetching a dummy goes already with good style and speed, Viivi lives at Kotka with family Tiihonen.
New examination results First two out of our R-litter, "Riina" Dirlian Rhian of Wales and "Riku" Dirlian Rhisiart Lion were x-rayed two weeks ago. Their official hips results came today from Kennel Club, with results Riku A-A, Riina B-B hips. At the same time both of them got also eyes checked (clear), and also Riku's elbows were x-rayed, result 0/0. Puppy news "Maija" aka Dirlian Open Secret started her season earlier than I had though, so luckily I had everything already decided and clear. So at yesterday evening (or to be exact, at night) we went to Kustavi to have a date with handsome "Freddie" aka Eastfarm's Blue Seven Seas and Malin. Despite of very cold night all went very well, so we hope that we'll get again some little welshies at April. Very many thanks to Malin for coming over, it was a crazy night, but hopefully worth of it :) !
Well done, Uffe and Terhi! FIN CH Dirlian Offspring aka "Uffe" and his mistress Terhi entered to agility competition in Kirkkonummi yesterday. It seems that both Uffe's speed and patience and Terhi's body lanquage were just perfect because they gained result 0 course fault, placement 4th, LUVA, CC and qualification to compete at upper MAXI 2 class. Very well done, Uffe and Terhi! A new litter planned I've now made final decisions about our next litter. The dam of the litter will be Dirlian Open Secret aka "Maija" who'll be in season during this spring. At last it wasn't so difficult to make decision who would be "Mr Right" for her, a long time I've been watching Eastfarm's Blue Seven Seas aka "Freddie" "on that eye". So now we're only waiting that Maija starts her season. S-puppies has moved This year started a little bit melancholy mood when all of our S-puppies moved to their own families in this weekend. The house feels so empty. I've heard that all of them have begin to feel at home very well. Good luck, Rosa, Kamu, Remu, Senni, Viivi and Lyyli! I hadn't had to be without any puppy this time, Dirlian Sevent Heaven aka Senni is co-owned by me and Nummelin-Suomalainen family, and lives now in Espoo.
